Emily Ho Selected for Ontario Team

Emily Ho, a gymnast at the Kingston Gymnastic Club, has had a remarkable start to her season. Last year Emily ended the season as the highest ranked athlete in Level 7 in Ontario. Due to this ranking she moved to the Level 8 – 14 years and up age category for this year. Emily has only just turned 14.

At the Women's Artistic Tour Selection Meet in Mississauga Emily competed against 46 other Level 8 -14 years of age and over girls. Emily was vying for a position out of 8 possible spots on the Ontario Team. Emily had three strong performances on the Floor, Vault and Bars, but on her fourth event, Beam, Emily faltered and fell. Both Emily and Marguerite were disappointed with the falter but were very happy with Emily’s effort and focus.

To Emily and Marguerite’s surprise, she placed forth and made the Ontario Team. An amazing achievement considering she faltered on one of her events.

Emily will be training with the Ontario Team on the weekend of Jan 9, 2010, to prepare for the upcoming meet taking place in California in February. During this training Emily will have to make the necessary adjustment to ensure the United States rules are followed.

The Kingston Gymnastics Provincial Team, along with Emily, will be traveling to Ottawa on Dec 5, 2009 to compete in the first Provincial Qualifying Meet of the season.

KGC Named Club of the Year 2009

The Kingston Gymnastics Club was named this Club of the Year at this year's Gymnastics Ontario Awards Banquet.

The club received the Ed Brougham Club of the Year Award, which was established in 1997 to honour the tremendous contribution Ed Brougham made to gymnastics. The criteria used for selecting the winning club reflects the principles which guided Ed's leardership in gymnastics. The 2009 award was presented to a medium-sized club that has demonstrated exemplary leadership to support both Gymnastics Ontario and their local community programs.

Congratulations to all members of the Kingston Gymnastics Club!
